With the number one TV show in the country, airing between Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa and Pamilya Sagrado, on primetime, it seems the Coco Martin-starrer is reinforcing the two shows to attract more audiences.
One of the best decisions TV5 made this year to its primetime programming, is undoubtedly airing the action-drama series, Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa, before FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. To be fair to the Kiko Estrada-topbilled series, it was already performing strongly on its previous timeslot on early afternoon. But on its new timeslot, the series saw its people rating from an average of 2.0 to 4.0. It even peaked at 5,0, last July 31, proving the move, did good for the series.
FPJ’s Batang Quiapo continues to lead all TV programs, with an average of 8-10 people rating. With aggregated viewership, across multiple channels and TV networks, the series is able to crush competition and reign supreme on local television.
Last August 8, the series logged a 17.9 people rating, a new all-time high, according to Nielsen Philippines. Some argue Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa‘s improved performance could be largely because the big chunk of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’s viewers is already on “standby” mode during the former’s airing slot. This assumption might be true, but one can’t dismiss Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa‘s intensifying plot, as a leading factor, either. Already in its last few weeks on air, the series transformed to one of the best-executed and most engaging action-drama series this year, boasting an ensemble of talented stars, and an addictive storyline.
But it seems it’s not just Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa, that’s benifiting massively from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. Viewership has noticeably declined for ABS-CBN’s second primetime slot, since the Piolo Pascual-headliner’s debut, although one can’t deny how tight the battle has been betwen Pamilya Sagrado and its rival Kapuso series, Widow’s War, over timeslot leadership. Last August 8, the wo shows were just 0.3 point apart, the narrowest margin between the two shows, based on Nielsen Philippines.
Again, some would argue Pamilya Sagrado has only been enjoying ‘spillover’ viewers from ‘Batang Quiapo’, but like Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa, the Dreamscape-produced family-drama series has also been heading towards major plot points, with some big revelations now being unfolded one by one.
Ultimately, whether FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is indeed helping the two shows perform better in ratings, or not, the more important point in this matter, is undoubtedly the fact more and more audiences are enjoying these beautiful and relatable stories, on primetime.
