Actress and TV host Bela Padilla has addressed a recent critique about her suitability for the Kapamilya noontime show ‘It’s Showtime.’
In a post shared on Instagram, Padilla uploaded a mini vlog from her day as a guest host on the show.
The post attracted a critical comment from a netizen who felt that Padilla, known for her roles as a “smarter actress and intelligent filmmaker,” did not fit the show’s style.
“I saw you on that show with vice ganda n her gang. I have to say it doesn’t suit you. You come across as a smarter actress and intelligent filmmaker. All these nonsense show with their stupid cheap jokes at the expense of their guests is not you. I’m just saying,” the comment read.
Padilla responded to the feedback with a gracious and reflective reply. She expressed her enjoyment of the show and highlighted her ability to adapt to different environments.
“I totally disagree. If one is truly smart, they can adapt to any environment ❤️ I always have the best time when I’m on showtime…I genuinely love talking to people and making them laugh and I am self deprecating enough to be laughed at too so it goes both ways…,” Padilla wrote.
She added, “I’ve been regularly visiting showtime since 2017 and I’m lucky that Vice and ‘her gang’ always make me feel welcome and never oblige me to let go of what I really am, which is a filmmaker.”
Padilla has been a recurring guest on ‘It’s Showtime,’ contributing to various segments including the popular ‘Expecially For You’ alongside Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, and Vice Ganda. She also made an appearance last month on ABS-CBN’s hit primetime series ‘Pamilya Sagrado.’
