Veteran actress Angelu de Leon remains hopeful for reconciliation with fellow actress Claudine Barretto despite their ongoing rift.
The two have yet to resolve their differences, which have garnered significant attention from fans and media.
During her appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ on Thursday, August 1, Angelu addressed the issue, acknowledging that she and Claudine have not had the opportunity to meet and discuss their conflict.
“There was this issue, Clau spoke about not wanting to work with you for some reason. And then there’s another declaration that she said she regretted it,” Boy Abunda remarked. He then asked, “Have you two talked? Have you resolved it?”
Angelu’s response was brief yet hopeful, “Wala pang pagkakataon pero umaasa pa rin ako na darating ‘yung panahon na ‘yon.”
The controversy began when Claudine stated she only wanted to work with actresses Gladys Reyes and Judy Ann Santos, excluding Angelu, during the 20th anniversary celebration of Gladys and her husband Christopher Roxas in January 2024. When asked by Gladys on stage about a possible reunion project with Angelu and Judy Ann, Claudine bluntly replied, “No, no, no. Hindi. Ikaw lang, at ako, at si Juday. Walang Angelu.”
However, Claudine later expressed regret over her comments in an interview with Ogie Diaz. “Alam mo, nagsisisi ako sa ginawa ko. At tina-try ko talaga na i-contact (si Angelu),” she admitted. Claudine explained that her reluctance to work with Angelu stemmed from feeling hurt over Angelu discussing her personal life publicly. “Please stop talking about my life especially when you’re not asked,” Claudine recalled asking Angelu.
Despite the lingering tension, Claudine remains optimistic about resolving their differences. “Alam kong in the days to come, alam kong tatawagan ko din siya,” she said. Claudine acknowledged her mistake and explained that while she currently feels it’s not right for them to work together, she harbors no ill feelings. “Yung galit, wala akong galit. Ayoko lang,” she concluded.
