As GMA Network enjoys leadership on local television, the case could not be any similar in the digital realm, where media network and former TV rival, ABS-CBN, rules with unrivaled supremacy.
We don’t even need to talk about the record-breaking milestones of Kapamilya Online Live, where streaming TV shows are now regularly drawing never-before-seen concurrent viewership numbers. FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, alone, continues to break local TV records, with at least 500,000 concurrent viewers, nightly. On Wednesday, August 7, the series set a new record anew, breaching 682,300 concurrent viewers, for the first time, since its February, 2022 debut. Kapamilya Online Live is the official livestream of ABS-CBN on YouTube and Facebook.
Reflective of such a massive growth in concurrent viewership, is ABS-CBN Entertainment’s unrivaled leadership, in terms of subscribers. This week, the main entertainment YouTube channel of ABS-CBN, officially hit the 49-million mark, a first for any Southeast Asian-based media entity. GMA Network, meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s closest rival, crossed 36 million.
Lifetime views-wise, ABS-CBN remains well-ahead GMA Network, with 55 billion lifetime views versus the latter’s 27.9 billion lifetime views.
