Willie Revillame made notable comments about GMA Network and its show ‘Family Feud’ during the premiere of his new TV5 program ‘Wil To Win.’
The launch of ‘Wil To Win’ on July 15 coincided with an episode of ‘Family Feud’ featuring his daughter, Meryll Soriano, and her aunt, Maricel Soriano. Revillame did not shy away from addressing this timing during his live show.
“Ang nakakatuwa ho, noong nag live ako kahapon [July 15], ‘yung anak ko, [at] si Ms. Maricel, at ‘yung aking mga ano, tinapat pa sa programa ko,” Revillame remarked. He questioned whether this was a form of competition, stating, “Ano ‘to, labanan ba ‘to? Hindi, tulungan nating mga kababayan nating naghihirap.”
He further commented on the originality of his show compared to ‘Family Feud,’ saying, “Ang importante, ang show na ito [ay] original, iniisip ko para sa inyo, hindi ito binibili sa ibang bansa, ito po ay habang buhay.” Emphasizing that his show airs live, he added, “Saka hindi kami naka-tape, naka-live kami.”
Revillame clarified that he does not concern himself with ratings, addressing his audience directly, “Para sa akin, ang ratings kayo.” He elaborated, “Kung may nakikita kayong pinapakita nila ang ratings nila, na mataas sila, hindi ho kami naapektuhan, kasi ang puso namin ay magbigay ng saya at pag-asa sa inyo.”
These comments followed the release of NUTAM People Ratings (Nielsen Phils TAM) on July 15, which reported ‘Family Feud’ having a rating of 9.6%, while ‘Wil To Win’ received 2.7%. Despite this, TV5 noted that ‘Wil To Win’ achieved the highest rating performance for its 5:00 to 6:30 PM time slot in 2024.
