The Megastar Sharon Cuneta is making a return to ABS-CBN, reuniting with the network for a highly-anticipated project with Dreamscape Entertainment.
This follows her role in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ marking another significant chapter in her illustrious career.
Cuneta expressed her excitement about the new project, sharing her joy and anticipation. “You know, my favorite memories are with ‘Probinsyano’. My heart is so excited. It’s been excitement, joy, na-overwhelm ako. Natutuwa ako, kinikilig ako. I’m very very excited to work with the people I’m going to work with,” she said.
However, Cuneta also noted the bittersweet nature of her comeback, given the absence of the late Dreamscape head, Deo Endrinal. “What pains me lang is Deo is not around anymore, because Dreamscape was so good to me. Coco (Martin) made a perfect experience for me in ‘Probinsyano,’” she shared.
ABS-CBN’s top executives, including COO for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi, and Dreamscape Entertainment executives, along with the staff of the upcoming show, welcomed Cuneta at the VIP lobby entrance of the ELJ Building. Reflecting on the warm reception, Cuneta said, “Pagpasok ko nakita ko yung ‘We missed you!’, na-overwhelm ako, ‘yung heart napa-mmm, I don’t want to be anywhere else but home.”
Cuneta emphasized the deep bond she shares with the Kapamilya Network, which has played a significant role in her personal and professional life. “(ABS-CBN) is such a big part of my own personal and professional history. Feeling ko, kahit papaano I’ve been a little part of the history of ABS-CBN. Kahit wala na ako, pagdating ng araw, my grandchildren they’re gonna know that,” she said.
Recently, Cuneta returned from a vacation in Europe with her daughter Miel, a trip planned as a send-off before Miel heads to New York City for university studies. Miel will be reunited with her sister Frankie, who is also in New York for her tertiary studies. Cuneta reflected on this transition, saying, “Itong August, derecho na kaming New York para ihatid siya. Kung hindi nagka-COVID, graduate na dapat si Frankie this year. So mawawala ‘yung dalawang babies ko.”
When asked if she is prepared for her daughters leaving home, Cuneta shared her mixed feelings. “I went through it with KC (Concepcion), I went through it with Frankie. I think mahirap lang kasi magkasunod ito. Last night I was telling Miguel during dinner, sabi ko ‘oh paps when your ate leaves, it’s gonna be you and me and dad.’ Sabi niya, ‘Wow free cars,’” she recounted.
“You will never be prepared. Kahit maghanda, Hindi ka talaga makakapag handa. Hindi ka aabot sa point na ‘yun kasi una mahirap tanggapin na ‘bakit ang bilis nilang lumaki?’ Parang dumaan lang ‘yung 20 na si Miel, si Frankie mag-twe-24 na, tapos si Miguel, parang kahapon lang nag-13th birthday lang,” Cuneta added. “I don’t mind getting old, I think I mind that my children are growing up. And they’ve grown up so fast.”
Sharon Cuneta’s upcoming project with ABS-CBN remains under wraps, but fans eagerly await what’s next for the Megastar as she continues to captivate audiences with her enduring talent and charisma.
