ABS-CBN has confirmed that Julia Montes will headline the Philippine adaptation of the widely acclaimed Japanese drama series ‘Mother.’
Returning to primetime television, Julia Montes, a recipient of the 7th The EDDYS Best Actress award for her role in ‘Five Breakups And A Romance,’ will lead in the upcoming series titled ‘Saving Grace.’
The announcement was made today, July 15, by Dreamscape Entertainment in collaboration with ABS-CBN Studios and Nippon TV of Japan, marking a significant milestone in Philippine television.
“We truly believe in ABS-CBN’s production capability and are confident that the Filipino audience will embrace the show,” said Sally Yamamoto of Nippon TV regarding the adaptation of their script format for ‘Mother.’
Yuki Akehi from Nippon TV added, “’Mother’ is truly a beautiful story that resonates universally. We are excited to see it come to life in the Philippines. Best wishes to the cast and crew.”
ABS-CBN’s Chief Operating Officer, Cory Vidanes, expressed gratitude to Nippon TV for entrusting them with the rights to produce the Filipino version. “It’s a powerful narrative that explores the complexities of family and motherhood. We believe it will deeply connect with viewers locally and internationally,” she commented.

Julia Montes, in response to the news, shared her excitement on Facebook and expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN and her Dreamscape family. She dedicated her role in ‘Saving Grace’ to the late head of Dreamscape Entertainment, Deo Endrinal.
“I am thrilled to embark on this project. Thank you for your continued support! I am grateful to my Dreamscape Entertainment family for their trust. Sir Deo, this is for you,” Julia’s statement read.
“Mother” has been successfully adapted in several countries, including Turkey, South Korea, Ukraine, Thailand, China, France, Spain, Mongolia, and Saudi Arabia, highlighting its universal appeal and compelling portrayal of familial relationships.
