Since being named Lancôme’s Philippine ambassador, Kathryn Bernardo has added even more accolades to her already impressive résumé: she won Best Actress at the FAMAS Awards and was rightfully named Box Office Queen and this is in 2024 alone.
Outside of the entertainment limelight, she continues to dazzle with her unforgettable sartorial turns and to inspire with her strength of character as she forges on a new chapter in her storied career.
In a whirlwind of wins and now-iconic moments, Kathryn takes pause to catch up with Lancôme, to field the most burning of questions that her admirers have been raring to ask. She continues to demonstrate exactly why the undisputed Idôle is the perfect Philippine ambassador for the French brand’s It Fragrance.
Share with us a distinctive moment where you felt most empowered.
I feel very empowered every time I accept a very challenging role Next, doing a film or a series that I really like or that challenges me. The fulfillment I feel after and seeing the output of my hard work, that’s what’s very empowering for me. Especially with my line of work, most of the time we portray different roles. Something different every time — something out of the box for me every project is a challenge, and every time I overcome that it’s very empowering.
Which Kathryn Bernardo era would be your Idôle?
I think it’s safe to say that every era or chapter in my life would be my Idôle, since it’s very different from each other. From my teenage years, to when I was in my early twenties, to when a lot of firsts happened to me, and now to my late 20s. I just turned 28 so it’s a different chapter for me because I feel like this is my transformation era. I’m very independent and very open now in this era of my life.
It’s hard to pick one because I learn a lot in every era, but the most special one would be last year because that was my transition era, which I’m continuing now as I grow old. I opened 2024 with a different mindset, a different motivation. I think this era of my life now is very transformative, that’s why it’s special.
What advice would you offer to Filipinas who want to find happiness and portray you as their role model?
here’s no right or wrong answer to that because every person has their own definition of happiness, and it can change also. As for me, my definition of happiness 10 years ago is different from my happiness now. So, for me it can change and it varies depending on the person.
What’s important is that you must find the right people, the right hobby, the right job, the right profession, whatever it is that fuels your happiness. If it makes your heart full, if it makes you excited every day — I think that it’s very important to do something that you like, do something you love. For me, I love my job, it makes me happy, but I also enjoy my days off, my time with my family and my friends.
Give yourself time to know the things that really make you happy. It’s very important to open yourself to the world. You’ll never know what form of happiness will come to you, and it can be from a person, from your friends, or from yourself.
