Enchong Dee’s journey in showbiz began 18 years ago with his debut in 2006. With roles spanning athlete, actor, dancer, singer, model, and host, he has proven his talent across various domains of entertainment.
He was one of the Star Magic artists present at this month’s Spotlight Presscon held on July 12, 2024, at Coffee Project in Wil Tower Mall, Quezon City.
Here, he talked about a recent highlight in his career: his portrayal of Padre Jacinto Zamora in ‘GomBurZa’ (2023), which earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the 2024 FAMAS Awards and secured him the Best Supporting Actor award at the 7th Eddys Entertainment Editor’s Choice Awards.
Enchong shared, “Being part of Gomburza is already such a win, simply because andaming magagandang bagay na sunod-sunod na nangyari after Gomburza… From Cedrick, to Tito Dante, to Piolo, to myself… Panalong-panalo na siya.”
He added how much of an honor it is for him to have won an acting award, “To be recognized by, specifically by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), anlaking bagay kasi ito yung mga taong kaakibat mo, everytime na nag-propromote ako… So, it matters to me kasi these are the people na kasama namin when it comes to spreading the words with our new projects,”
“Yung panalo kahapon, hindi ibig-sabihin panalo ngayon, so I just have to keep working. And I’m very grateful to the members of the SPEEd because it’s an added inspiration for me to do better in the next projects,” Enchong said.
Throughout his acting journey, Enchong Dee has taken on memorable roles in several well-known film projects, such as portraying Jojo M. Wenceslao in ‘Katorse’ (2009), Caloy Javier in ‘Magkaribal’ (2010), Ethan Castillo in ‘Ina, Kapatid, Anak’ (2012), and the iconic CJ in ‘Four Sisters and a Wedding’ (2013).
Enchong teased an upcoming film, expressing his excitement for the role despite the unclear schedule. “Yung role kasi na na-offer sa ‘kin, yun yung sabi ko na never ‘tong i-ooffer ng Star Cinema sa ‘kin. Pero yung ganong klaseng pelikula would extend the range that I can do… Parang kontrabida kasi siya eh, na medyo gory.”
In addition to his on-screen acting, Enchong has made significant strides in the music industry. Under Star Music, he released two albums: his self-titled album ‘Enchong Dee’ in 2014 and ‘EDM (Enchong Dee Moves)/Hanggang Dito Nalang’ in 2016.
In terms of Enchong’s future career plans, there is a lot we can look forward to from him. With PBB right around the corner starting this July 20, Enchong expressed his excitement, “I think I’m as excited as the new housemates. Simply because, yung nabuo naming pamilya nung nakaraang big brother season, legit,” He shares how they have met at each other’s houses, expressing that they have really built a family.
“So, excited ako kasi magkikita kami gabi-gabi, kasama ng mga housemates,” he added.
Enchong also expressed his interest in entering the international stage, citing a few dream collaborations, “Timothée Chalamet, Anya Taylor-Joy, yung mga feeling ko nasa same age-range ko. Para matuto rin ako, matuto rin sila, yung mga ganong bagay,”
