Enchong Dee has expressed enthusiasm about diving into Boys’ Love (BL) projects as he aims to explore more dimensions of his acting career.
The Kapamilya actor and TV host, who previously played a gay role in the comedy film ‘Here Comes The Groom,’ received significant acclaim for his performance.
During a recent press conference for Star Magic Spotlight, Dee, who was named Best Supporting Actor at the 7th The EDDYS Awards for his role in ‘GomBurZa,’ was asked about his openness to taking on serious gay roles that might bring him a Best Actor accolade.
Dee revealed that even before BL series became popular in the Philippines, he had already envisioned a theme and concept for a BL film. Although he pitched the idea to an executive friend, it did not come to fruition. Dee believes that perhaps it wasn’t the right time for him to embark on a BL project.
The actor expressed his willingness to accept offers for films with LGBTQIA+ themes, provided the projects are compelling and inspirational for viewers. When asked which prominent actors he would like to work with on such a project, he mentioned Jericho Rosales, Dingdong Dantes, Piolo Pascual, and Alden Richards.
In addition to his interest in BL projects, Dee expressed gratitude for winning Best Supporting Actor at the 7th The EDDYS Awards Night for ‘GomBurZa.’ He highlighted the significance of being part of the film and the positive experiences and collaborations that followed.
“Being part of Gomburza is already such a win, simply because andaming magagandang bagay na sunod-sunod na nangyari after GomBurZa…from Cedrick (Juan), to Tito Dante (Rivero), to Piolo (Pascual), to myself, panalung-panalo na siya,” said Dee.
Winning Best Supporting Actor is a significant honor for Dee, who acknowledged the importance of being recognized by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd). “To be recognized by, specifically by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), ang laking bagay kasi ito yung mga taong kaakibat mo, everytime na nag-po-promote ako. So, it matters to me kasi these are the people na kasama namin when it comes to spreading the words with our new projects,” he noted.
Dee concluded by expressing his commitment to continue working hard, saying, “‘Yung panalo kahapon, hindi ibig-sabihin panalo ngayon, so I just have to keep working. And I’m very grateful to the members of the SPEEd because it’s an added inspiration for me to do better in the next projects.”
