Brian Alegre discovered his passion for painting during his elementary school years. He continued to hone his art skills by joining various poster-making contests.
Brian Alegre is recognized in the art circle as a versatile visual artist of various mediums, including oil paint, watercolor, acrylic, and soft pastel. His artistic repertoire spans diverse genres such as portraits, landscapes, still life, animals, everyday scenes, and religious subjects.
Alegre overcame significant personal challenges, including a heart attack and COVID-19 infection during the pandemic. Professionally, he struggled with finding time to create or paint. In hindsight, these served as motivators in his preparation for his first solo exhibit.
He aptly entitled his exhibit “Pasasalamat” (Thanksgiving) as a way of showing overt gratitude for being given a second chance at life and the gift of art, which has sustained him consistently in the past 23 years of his art career.
Throughout his career, Brian Alegre has received numerous awards, underscoring his talent and significant contributions to the art. This string of awards began in 1999 when he won the grand prize for the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) Centennial Logo Competition as an Architecture student.
“Sa Kumpas ng Kulay at Musika”, inspired by his friend National Artis Ryan Cabyabyab, and “1on1” are two of the artworks that are on display in “Pasasalamat” from July 7 up to July 20 at the Gateway Gallery Studio.
This exhibit showcases his artistic achievements and stands as a testament to his resilience and gratitude towards Life. Alegre plans to give back by donating a percentage of his sales to charitable causes, reflecting his commitment to helping others through his art.
Brian Alegre hopes to see you there!
