Celebrated as the most decorated soldier in Philippine history, Retired Colonel Ariel Querubin has officially launched his bid for a Senate seat in the upcoming 2025 elections.
His declaration, made during the event “A Gathering of Warriors: A Call for Unity and Heroism,” held at the historic Club Filipino this morning, has garnered widespread support from prominent figures in the military and police forces.
The gathering was attended by numerous former Chiefs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP), alongside approximately two thousand generals and officers who have thrown their weight behind Querubin’s candidacy. This substantial endorsement underscores Querubin’s stature and influence within the military and law enforcement communities, highlighting his credentials as a dedicated advocate for national service.
In his address, Querubin emphasized the pressing issues confronting the nation, including corruption, poverty, inflation, and threats to sovereignty, particularly in the context of heightened tensions in the West Philippine Sea. He stressed the importance of modernizing the military to protect Philippine interests and called for a united effort to tackle societal challenges.
“The bullying in the West Philippine Sea threatens our sovereignty, while the proliferation of illegal POGOs brings social issues that affect our communities. And the call for the modernization of our military to secure our nation and uphold our sovereignty with the respect it deserves – is nothing short of urgent and vital for our survival as a free nation,” Querubin asserted. “My vision is a nation of heroes. Isang bayang handang magsakripisyo at kayang ipaglaban ang Pilipino mula sa mga mang-aapi.”
Affectionately known as ‘The Push Up Man’ for his physical prowess and symbolic strength in advocating reform, Querubin expressed readiness to engage with various sectors, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), media, and civil society groups. His campaign has already secured endorsements from the Nacionalista Party and the People’s Reform Party, underscoring his expanding political coalition.
Reflecting on his journey and the outpouring of support, Querubin reaffirmed his commitment to listening to the concerns of Filipinos and championing meaningful change. As one of the early contenders to announce his Senate bid, Querubin aims to unify diverse political perspectives under a common banner of national progress and security.
As the electoral season unfolds, Querubin anticipates forging additional alliances and garnering support from various sectors and political parties, positioning himself as a formidable contender for a Senate seat in 2025.
