Kapamilya actress Andrea Brillantes has addressed recent body-shaming remarks targeting her physical appearance on social media.
The comments came in response to noticeable changes in her body, particularly her arms.
In an interview on July 18, Brillantes responded with a candid dismissal of the criticisms. “Sa mga nagko-comment about my arms? I really don’t care. It’s crazy to think that other people think they have the authority or the right or their opinion matters to me. Everything that I do for my body is for me,” she stated.
She emphasized that her focus remains on what makes her happy, not on external judgments.
Brillantes also criticized the use of body shaming language that compares women to their mothers. “Ang weird lang na ginagamit nila pang-body shame ang katawan ng ‘nanay’, na parang, ‘Grabe parang nanay na si Andrea, ‘yung katawan niya.’ That’s so embarrassing for you to say… You’re body shaming your mom? So ‘yun gusto ko sabihin, maganda katawan lahat ng kababaihan. Hindi dapat ginagawang pang-body shame ang katawan ng nanay,” she said.
The actress, who recently became the face of Dear Face’s Beauty Milk Melon, is continuing her successful partnership with the brand. The new product launch, ‘Let’s Drink TWO Blythe!,’ marks another milestone in her collaboration with Dear Face.
