Viva’s President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Vincent del Rosario, expressed high hopes for continued subscriber growth for Vivamax by the end of 2024.
In 2023, the video-on-demand platform reached seven million subscribers, and this year, it surpassed ten million users. Del Rosario aims for a 50% growth this year, targeting a total of 15 million subscribers.
“We were hoping to do at least 50% growth. So, parang eksakto naman siya. Pero it came early eh. So hopefully, with the balance of the year, we’ll get more,” he said during the launch of 11 new talents following the Viva milestone.
Vivamax started as a video streaming platform for Filipinos in the Philippines and overseas. However, del Rosario and Viva noticed an increase in viewership from other countries when they began incorporating subtitles into their movies and shows.
In Indonesia alone, the number of subscribers reached one million this year. They also saw viewership growth in countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Europe, the United Kingdom, and surprisingly, India.
“So I think the content is resonating beyond our kababayans. So I think ano ‘yun, parang testament doon sa magandang mga k’wento na ise-share natin, beautiful ladies, and of course may male talents din. So, ‘yun, happy kami dahil iyon was beyond what we expected,” expressed del Rosario.
He believes that of the four million new subscribers gained, two million were not Filipinos.
“So 80% Filipinos, and then 20% other nationalities. So, kung 11 million, at least two millions na hindi Pinoy.”
During the event, Vivamax launched new talents: Dyessa Garcia, Rica Gonzales, Christy Imperial, Arah Alonzo, Vern Kaye, Athena Red, Alessandra Cruz, Jenn Rosa, Candy Veloso, Mariane Saint, and Skye Gonzaga. They hope these additions will help continue the platform’s growth.
