Drag queen Pura Luka Vega has sparked controversy once again with a recent tweet suggesting a repeat of their contentious ‘Ama Namin’ rock remix performance, which caused significant uproar last year.
“Oo nga pala, anniversary na pala ng Ama Namin rock remix ko. Ulitin ko kaya. ,” Vega tweeted, noting the anniversary of the performance that many criticized for its perceived desecration of a sacred song.
The tweet quickly drew attention, with some recalling that the original performance led to multiple arrests for Vega. Despite the legal troubles, the tweet suggests Vega remains undeterred.
While some supporters defended the performance as a form of artistic expression, the incident last year mobilized various LGBTQIA+ organizations to fundraise for Vega’s bail. However, this time, there appears to be less enthusiasm for a repeat.
Some followers expressed their reluctance to contribute again if Vega faces further legal issues, suggesting the drag queen should avoid repeating the performance. Fellow ‘Drag Den’ Season 1 contestant NAIA Black humorously pleaded, “luka im running out of get out of jail free cards pls.”
