Piolo Pascual has generated considerable interest with his enthusiastic promotion of the upcoming teleserye ‘Pamilya Sagrado.’
When asked about his return to portray Rafael Sagrado, a character known for his antagonistic traits, the Ultimate Heartthrob didn’t shy away from the topic.
“Ang sarap paglaruan kasi napakasama niya,” Piolo shared during our interview. “Alam mong maraming paghuhugutan doon sa conflict na pagdadaanan ng character niya with Grae [Fernandez], Mylene [Dizon], my Dad, Tirso Cruz [III], John Arcilla, and then there’s Kyle [Echarri], Shaina [Magdayao], and Bela [Padilla].”
He elaborated further, “Napaka-complex niya, ito ‘yunh tipo ng istorya na ang sarap bigyan ng buhay kasi hindi ka naka-kahon. It’s nice to be on that ride, to just be along the ride. Be a collaborator, to be a team player. So sabi ko, heto na ‘to. Kung gagawa ako ng soap, heto na ‘yon.”
Piolo admitted to relishing the challenge of portraying Rafael’s character, which differs significantly from the kind-hearted roles he has played in the past.
However, he chose this project because Rafael’s character does have elements of redemption.
“There was a concept that was pitched to me before and I said, ahhh walang redemption ‘yung character. Ayaw ko naman ng ganun. Para may learnings, may hopes, mayroon kang makikitang redemption sa istoryang paanoorin mo,” Piolo explained.

‘Pamilya Sagrado’ is scheduled to premiere on June 17 and will be broadcast on TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live. Advance streaming will be available on iWantTFC starting June 15.
