Former manager Ogie Diaz has denied accusations that Liza Soberano was deprived of her freedom to make decisions during her time under his management.
The controversy arose following Soberano’s recent remarks in a magazine interview where she explained her decision to take charge of her career after over a decade in show business.
According to the actress, she felt like an adult but was not treated as one, and she wasn’t consulted on decisions that directly impacted her.

In response to Soberano’s statements, which were shared on the magazine’s Instagram account, Diaz addressed the issue on his show ‘Showbiz Update.’
“As far as I know, hindi naman ganoon ang nangyari. Nilalatag sa kanya lahat ‘yan… Gusto mo ba ‘to si Letter A, ayaw ko ‘yan meron pa ba kayong iba? Si B gusto mo? Ayoko ‘yan. Si C, ayoko ‘yan. Okay. Ano ‘yung puwede mong i-suggest na pasok sa kanilang requirement? Ganoon kami. Ganoon ‘yung dynamics namin,” Diaz explained.
He further clarified their working dynamics, stating, “Kasi sabi nga ni Mr. M, huwag mong gagawin ang ayaw mo. Kasi mahihilaw ‘yung labas. Kasi baka makita sa mata mo na hindi mo gusto ‘yung ginagawa mo. So pinapagawa namin sa kanya ay ‘yung gusto niya.”
Diaz emphasized that their approach was collaborative and aimed at aligning with Soberano’s preferences and career goals. He also mentioned that they filtered decisions at Star Magic, their agency, before presenting them to her.
“Marami namang times, na ‘yung mga pinapagawa namin sa kanya eh, una alam naming bagay sa kanya. ‘Pag hindi naman bagay sa kanya, hindi na namin pinararating sa kanya, sa amin pa lang harang na namin ‘yun ng Star Magic,” he shared.
The ongoing discussion between Soberano and Diaz has sparked renewed interest due to its implications for artist management practices in the Philippine entertainment industry.
