King of Talk Boy Abunda recently discussed the deeply personal nature of his new limited series talk show on GMA Network, ‘My Mother, My Story.’
Developed by Abunda and his ‘Fast Talk’ team, the show aims to honor mothers and explore their profound impact on their children’s lives.
During a press conference on May 7, Tito Boy shared his heartfelt motivations behind the show, highlighting the collaborative effort with his team in conceptualizing and creating it.
“Oh yes. This started with me,” he explained. “This is my concept na binentahan ng ating mga kasamahan. My Fast Talk family were behind this.”
The show focuses on Abunda’s personal connection with his late mother, drawing from his own experiences with Nanay Lesing.
“This is very personal. And since it is very personal, again I would like to address na I am not diminishing the contribution of a father in raising a child,” Abunda clarified. “Everyone, a father has a mother, a mother has a mother, you have a mother, I have a mother.”
Abunda’s personal relationship with his mother is a central theme of the show. Reflecting on his experiences, he mentioned his doctoral dissertation on transformative leadership, which used maternal love as a foundational concept.
“On the way here nga, I got a copy of my dissertation, my doctoral dissertation. Kasi nire-review ko lang. Sabi ko, ano kaya ang pinanggalingan ko? Ano kaya ang pinanggalingan ko dito sa ‘My Mother, My Story.’ Ang dami ring signs na naroon eh,” he shared.
‘My Mother, My Story’ is a six-episode special airing every second Sunday of the month at 3:15 p.m., directed by Romel Gacho.
