Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has announced her hopes to return to the Philippines by the last quarter of the year, just in time for Christmas. This revelation came during a health update she shared in an interview.
In a vlog with entertainment reporter and talent manager Ogie Diaz, Kris provided an update on her health, noting that her last health update was in May. She explained her silence since then, attributing it to the “intense treatment” she has been undergoing.
Kris emphasized her desire not to burden others with her struggles. “Why should I burden people when everybody has their own burden na kailangan nilang malagpasan? And thank you sa lahat ng mga nagdadasal for me pero ayokong pabigatin ang mga dala nila,” she said.
Despite the challenges, Kris remains optimistic about her recovery, though she clarified that some of her blood vessels are still affected, necessitating further strengthening.
“It just really depends kasi, may mga pagdadaanan ako na mga test, isa d’un ‘yung MRI with contrast dye. Merong ishoo-shoot sa’yo na may kulay ‘yung dye tapos sa buong katawan mo dadaan ‘yan,” Kris explained, sharing her apprehension about the test due to evolving allergies.
Kris recounted undergoing a positron emission tomography (PET) scan before leaving the Philippines in 2022, which came out clear. This scan is an imaging test used to detect cancer.
“If I clear that at kinaya, then pwede na ituloy sa Pilipinas ‘yung treatment sa akin,” Kris stated.
She noted that while some of her medications are not available in the Philippines, there are three hospitals capable of importing them. However, the administration of these medications requires a rheumatoid specialist, an anesthesiologist, or a surgeon.
Kris clarified that her autoimmune diseases “can never be cured” but their symptoms can be managed. She emphasized that continuous treatment for one and a half to two years would be necessary if she returns to the Philippines.
“Right now, wala akong panlaban sa ibang mga sakit. ‘Pag lumalabas kami, I’m still wearing a mask kasi hindi ako pwedeng mahawa. Kailangan nilang palakasin pa ‘yung resistensya ko and then after that, sana makauwi na ‘ko because ang tagal ko nang hindi nakikita ‘yung mga kamag-anak ko,” she said.
Many have visited Kris in the U.S., including ‘It’s Showtime’ host Kim Chiu, her friend and fellow host Boy Abunda, and singer-actress Angeline Quinto. While she is grateful for these visits, Kris admitted, “I miss home, of course. I miss the people and mahirap din nga na si Kuya Josh, nandu’n, umuuwi, bumabalik dito, ayaw nang bumalik (sa US). Gusto niya talaga sa Tarlac.”
Kris remains hopeful for a return to her homeland, bringing a sense of optimism and anticipation to her fans and supporters.
