Kapuso actor Kelvin Miranda has bravely shared the challenges he has faced in his personal life and showbiz career, shedding light on his mental health struggles and past traumas.
In an interview with Toni Gonzaga on her YouTube channel ‘Toni Talks,’ Kelvin revealed that he never initially aimed to become a celebrity. He entered the entertainment industry to support his family, but over time, the pressures of acting began to impact his mental well-being.
Kelvin disclosed that he has been diagnosed with bipolar I disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mild dyslexia, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These diagnoses came after experiencing patterns of impulsive behavior, emotional breakdowns, and difficulty detaching from the characters he portrays.
When asked about his PTSD, Kelvin candidly shared, “Naabuso din kasi po ako noong bata ako. Hindi ko alam kung paano ko makakalimutan.” He explained that the abuse happened when he was around 8 or 9 years old, and he had to confront the memories by revisiting the people and places associated with the trauma.
In addition to seeking medical treatment and prayer, Kelvin has attempted to avoid social media to protect himself from online negativity.
He added, “Hindi ko sinasabi ako ‘yung pinakamabuting tao.
Despite these personal challenges, Kelvin continues to thrive in his career. He is set to appear in the upcoming GMA Network fantasy series ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang’gre,’ alongside Angel Guardian, Faith Da Silva, and Bianca Umali.
