Kapuso star David Licauco, popularly known as the ‘Pambansang Ginoo’, has opened up about his relationship status and shared his thoughts on love during an interview on ‘Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.’
Licauco, who gained widespread recognition for his role in the hit Kapuso series ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ alongside Barbie Forteza, initially questioned the title bestowed upon him.
“Hindi ko rin alam ba’t ako tinawag na Pambansang Ginoo,” David shared. “But, of course, since ‘yun na nga ‘yung tawag sa ‘kin, kailangan ko ipakita na, alam mo ‘yun, maging good example sa mga tao.”
When asked about his experiences with love in his younger years, David revealed that he was easily smitten by beautiful, chinita (Chinese-looking) women who were enjoyable to talk to. “So, parang kapag masaya kausap, minsan parang feeling mo in love ka na, e,” he admitted. “Kapag bata ka pa, di ba? Feeling ko, dapat swak lang kayo palagi. If it’s hard, goodbye, kapag bata ka.”
However, David’s perspective on love has matured over the years. The Kapuso heartthrob now emphasizes the importance of empathy and understanding in a relationship. “I think you have to empathize with your partner and for sure marami kasing problema along the way,” he noted. “Kailangan mo lumaban, kailangan mo intindihin kung saan nanggagaling yung partner mo.”
David explained that he has become more understanding and empathetic in his relationships, acknowledging the need for these qualities. “So now talaga, mas naging ano ako eh, siguro understanding. Kailangan na noon,” he said.
During the ‘Fast Talk’ segment of the interview, David was asked to choose between being “single” or “taken.” After a moment of hesitation, the actor confessed that he is “taken.”
‘That Kind of Love,’ starring Barbie Forteza and David Licauco, premieres on July 10 in cinemas nationwide. The film also features Arlene Muhlach, Al Tantay, Jeff Gaitan, Divine Aucina, Ivan Carapiet, and Kaila Estrada. It is written by Ellis Catrina and directed by Catherine Camarillo, produced by Pocket Media Productions and distributed by Regal Entertainment.
