The missing standee of BINI member Sheena Catacutan has been returned after days of intense public scrutiny and a heartfelt apology from the individual responsible in a case that stirred up social media and caught the attention of fans and management alike.
The incident unfolded during the recent BINI Day event, where the standee went missing, prompting Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi to launch the “Finding Sheena” campaign in hopes of its safe return.
Days later, a fan identified as Eli stepped forward in a video posted on BINI’s official Facebook page, detailing the circumstances surrounding the standee’s disappearance.
According to Eli, another fan, aided by fellow supporters known as Blooms, had taken the standee from the event venue. They later reached out to Eli privately, disclosing the standee’s location and expressing remorse for their actions.
“Ang sabi niya lang po, naano po talaga ‘yung pagfa-fangirl niya po. Tinulungan daw po siya ng ibang Blooms na ilabas [‘yung standee],” Eli told Dyogi. “Nung tinanong ko paano niya naiuwi, may dala raw po siyang car.”
The individual explained that their intense passion for the P-pop group and a mistaken assumption about permissions led them to take the standee. Concerned that the item might go unused, they decided to bring it home, but faced severe backlash and bullying on social media, prompting them to reconsider and return it.
“‘First things first, I’m really sorry for [the inconvenience I] caused the management, and to me as well due to the actions during BINI Day. Napindot po kasi si die-hard [and] I thought it was okay since wala naman pong nagsabi na bawal.’”
“‘Naisip ko rin po at the same time na sayang if ever hindi na magagamit; baka pwede na siya iuwi,’” the statement further read. “‘I returned the standee po kasi grabe na ‘yung bullying na natatanggap ko sa social media.’”
In a statement conveyed through Eli, the fan expressed profound regret for causing inconvenience to the management and acknowledged the lapse in judgment. They also appealed for privacy and asked that their identity not be further circulated online.
Accepting the apology on behalf of Star Magic and BINI, Lauren Dyogi thanked the individual for taking responsibility and returning the standee. He emphasized the importance of ethical behavior among fans and encouraged them to respect boundaries set by events and venues.
“Ang importante naman ay may natutunan kang leksyon sa nangyaring ito,” Dyogi stated, underscoring the need for fans to adhere to rules and regulations, even in moments of excitement and enthusiasm. As a gesture of appreciation for the resolution, Dyogi rewarded Eli with exclusive BINI merchandise and hinted at a future meeting at an undisclosed event.
The incident underscored the complexities of fan interactions in the digital age, highlighting the impact of social media scrutiny and the importance of responsible fan conduct in supporting their idols.
