Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza and David Licauco recently expressed their desire to collaborate with Box-Office Queen Kathryn Bernardo.
David Licauco has long been vocal about his dream to work with Kathryn and star in a Star Cinema movie, even if it’s just in a supporting role. He idolizes Kathryn and considers it a dream to act alongside her.
During the grand media conference for their first movie together, ‘That Kind of Love,’ held on June 20, Barbie was asked about the constant comparisons between her and Kathryn.
When asked whether she feels more pressured by these comparisons or by the speculation about her real-life relationship with David, Barbie answered thoughtfully.
“Actually, naku, hindi ko alam kung paano ko po sasagutin yan. Kasi aaminin ko, isa rin po si Miss Kathryn Bernardo sa mga taong nilu-look up ko sa showbiz,” Barbie said. “She really handles her career and personal life really, really well. And that is why there’s no doubt kaya maraming brands ang naa-attract niya.”
Barbie continued, “Dahil ganu’n niya talaga dalhin ang sarili niya. And so to be acknowledged or to be noticed na kahit paano ay parehas (ang career path at acting style), is siyempre a very big honor for me. And sana, sana magkatrabaho kaming dalawa dahil isa rin siya talaga sa mga gusto kong makatrabaho, at isa sa mga ina-admire kong actors of our generation.”
There have been comments suggesting that Barbie and David might end up together in real life, especially since Barbie is not yet married to her boyfriend, Jak Roberto.
Both Barbie and Kathryn started their careers as teen stars on GMA Network. While they both began as child actors on ABS-CBN, they played younger versions of lead stars in GMA Network’s adaptations of Korean dramas. Barbie portrayed the young Rhian Ramos in ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ while Kathryn played the young Marian Rivera in ‘Endless Love.’
After these shows, Barbie continued to build her career with GMA Network, whereas Kathryn returned to ABS-CBN and achieved unparalleled success in TV shows and movies. At one point, their shows competed against each other, with Barbie leading ‘Tween Hearts’ and Kathryn starring in ‘Growing Up’ in 2011.

Fans also recall Kathryn and Daniel Padilla’s decade-long relationship, which eventually ended. However, Barbie and Jak’s supporters believe their love is for keeps. Barbie and Jak have been together for seven years, and it is rumored that David has a non-showbiz girlfriend.
‘That Kind of Love,’ starring BarDa, premieres on July 10 in cinemas nationwide. The film also features Arlene Muhlach, Al Tantay, Jeff Gaitan, Divine Aucina, Ivan Carapiet, and Kaila Estrada. It is written by Ellis Catrina and directed by Catherine Camarillo, produced by Pocket Media Productions and distributed by Regal Entertainment.
