As part of her debut celebration, ‘Open 24/7’ star Sofia Pablo treated herself in advance by purchasing a brand-new motor vehicle, with her first passenger being her on-screen partner, Allen Ansay.
During her pre-debut conference on April 17, Pablo was asked by the attending press if she already had her driving license. She revealed that while she had bought a vehicle from GAC Motor, she had yet to learn how to drive.
The actress acknowledged the importance of driving, especially in her line of work, and expressed her intention to learn promptly. “Hindi pa po but I’m planning to learn na rin agad. Kasi siyempre mahalaga iyon sa pag-aartista na marunong ka, and of course, ang daming role na kailangang marunong kang mag-drive,” she explained.
“So kailangan na marunong na ako lalo 18 na ako. Hindi ko na mai-excuse ‘yung, ‘Hindi pa po ako marunong minor pa po ako eh, haha.’ So kailangan talaga na marunong na po ako.”
Once she masters driving, Pablo plans to take her first road trip to Tagaytay, where her upcoming series ‘Prinsesa ng City Jail’ was filmed. When asked who would accompany her, Pablo quickly replied, “Siyempre po kapag hindi sa family, si Aki. Sino pa ba? Siyempre si Aki lang, hahaha.”
“Aki” is the nickname she and Ansay coined, a shortened version of “akin,” meaning “mine.”
More than Just Driving
Turning 18 on April 10, Pablo looks forward to taking on more mature roles in her career, reflecting her transition into adulthood. “Now that I’m 18, I’m excited for my growth, not just personally, to become more lady-like, but also in my career,” she shared.
Furthermore, Pablo aims to challenge the public’s perception of her, particularly the notion that she is “pabebe” or childish, by portraying characters that defy this stereotype. “My resolution at eighteen is to change how people view me as ‘pabebe.’ Not everyone says it, but usually when I encounter bashers, that’s their criticism,” Pablo explained.
Moreover, she expressed her desire to become more independent, no longer relying solely on her mother for support. “It’s my goal to be more independent because I’m dependent on my mommy. I’m a mommy’s girl. I can also be very shy and always turn to her for help… But now, I don’t want to stress her out,” the actress expressed.
