‘Bantay-Bahay’ star Pepe Herrera revealed on April 30 his openness to accepting that his children have ‘friends’ whom he believes may be their guardian angels.
His daughter, Payapa, often smiles and plays with an unseen entity, a phenomenon also observed with his son, Pepito. While some might consider these as imaginary friends, Herrera sees them as potential protectors for his children.
“I would like to believe na mga guardian angel nila ‘yung mga nagpapakita sa kanila,” he remarked.
There are instances when he speaks to his daughter and inquires about the nature of her companion. She reassures him that it is harmless.
“Hindi, hindi naman. Kinakausap ko din. ‘Are you playing with your guardian angel?’ ‘Mabait naman? Hindi naman nakakatakot?’ Sinasabi naman ng three-year old, turning four na daughter ko, hindi naman daw. It’s always pleasant naman daw ang mga nagpaparamdam sa kanya,” shared the actor.
Herrera acknowledges that toddlers, like pets, possess heightened senses, including what some refer to as the ‘third eye.’
“Naniniwala kasi ako na pinanganak tayong bukas ang third eye natin eh. Sumasara lang siya eventually because of external factors. Kasi I have two kids. Parehas sila na tumatawa at ngumingiti sa kung saan-saan.”
“So, may mga nakikita sila. Just like our pets, they see and feel things that we don’t. And I think sa panahon na ‘to, sa age na ito, it’s backed up by science. I think ang tawag dito ay metaphysical,” he explained.
The actor also recounted his own encounters with the paranormal, fitting for his latest comedy-horror movie ‘Bantay-Bahay,’ directed by Jose Javier “Joey” Reyes. The film follows a vlogger and podcaster who discovers he is not alone in the house he is house-sitting.
‘Bantay-Bahay’ will hit cinemas on May 1.
