The 30th Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Rommel Francisco Marbil, elucidated his blueprint for the future of the police force during the recent assembly of media representatives spanning TV, radio, print journalists, and bloggers.
Acknowledging the unwavering commitment of police officers, particularly in combating the proliferation of illegal drugs, the newly appointed PNP Chief pledged to institute legal assistance for personnel facing judicial proceedings stemming from their official duties.
He further emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing the welfare of police officers to amplify their efficacy in serving the populace.
Taking a firm stance, the new Chief of Police initiated a prohibition on mobile phone usage to ensure officers’ undivided attention towards their obligations and commitments to the nation and its inhabitants. All police personnel were reminded to abstain from unnecessary phone usage while on duty, alongside proposals to heighten police presence within communities.
Under his stewardship, the PNP remains resolute in upholding professionalism, integrity, and service standards to safeguard the peace and security of the Filipino citizenry.
Chief Marbil expressed his endorsement of the non-violent approach of the PBBM in combating the drug menace, highlighting a recent seizure of over two tons of shabu by the PNP on April 15 without any casualties.
Assuming the mantle of PNP Chief, Marbil vowed to prioritize the protection of human rights in the government’s intensified anti-drug initiatives, with the aim of curbing extrajudicial killings.
Marbil affirmed the PNP’s commitment to carrying out anti-drug operations resulting in numerous arrests and the confiscation of illicit drugs worth millions of pesos, all without incurring any fatalities.
Concluding the event, Chief Marbil extended his gratitude to the organizers for providing a platform to articulate his vision for the Philippine National Police.
“I am grateful to the organizers for this event because it gives me a better chance to meet all media people, not just those assigned in our organization. I hope we could all work harmoniously for our country and for our safety,” he remarked.
