Veteran columnist and talent manager Lolit Solis has publicly appealed to actor Gabby Concepcion to forgive her for the controversy that strained their relationship following the Manila Film Festival Scam in 1994.
The scandal involved Solis manipulating the festival’s results to favor her talents, Gabby Concepcion and Ruffa Gutierrez, awarding them Best Actor and Best Actress instead of the rightful winners, Edu Manzano and Aiko Melendez. Since the incident, Concepcion has kept his distance from Solis.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Solis expressed her desire to reconcile with Concepcion after nearly three decades of estrangement. She shared her sentiments during her birthday celebration, wishing that Concepcion could have attended.
“Salve kahit na very happy ako sa birthday lunch ko mas buo sana ang ligaya ko kung nagpunta si Gabby Concepcion. Talagang ng makita ko lahat ng alaga ko, pumasok sa utak ko na sana dumating si Gabby para kumpleto sila lahat,” Solis wrote.
She noted that despite the fallout, there were no harsh words exchanged between them during their split as manager and talent. She also mentioned that Rolly Concepcion, Gabby’s father, maintained his trust in her.
“In fairness kahit nuon kainitan ng paghihiwalay namin as manager/ talent wala kang narinig na masamang salita between us. At iyon trust ni daddy Rolly Concepcion sa akin hindi nawala. Saka siguro naman maganda na ang mga buhay at career namin plus the maturity na inabot namin kaya dapat kalimutan na ang lahat,” Solis added.

Solis emphasized that both she and Gabby have moved on to successful lives and careers, and with their maturity, it is time to bury the hatchet.
As part of her birthday wish, Solis urged Concepcion to reconcile with her. “Kalimutan na natin ang nakaraan Gabby, we can be good friends. No bad blood, no dark past. Friends please para bongga. Hope to see and talk with you soon, bongga,” she concluded.
Solis’s public appeal underscores her hope to mend bridges and move forward, highlighting the importance of forgiveness and reconciliation.
