Queen of All Media Kris Aquino has shared positive updates about her ongoing battle with autoimmune disease.
In a recent conversation with her friend, writer-editor Dindo Balares, Aquino revealed that her latest medication regimen is starting to show promising results, and her appetite is making a comeback—an encouraging sign of better health.
Balares took to Instagram on Wednesday, May 15, to relay the uplifting news. Despite concerns over recent cardiologist findings regarding her heart, Aquino is optimistic due to the positive effects of her autoimmune treatment.
“Pinag-usapan namin na broken hearts lang, never na broken spirits,” Balares wrote. He explained that Aquino is worried about her heart condition, particularly because her low weight prevents any immediate corrective measures. Despite this, Aquino is thrilled with the positive response to her increased dosage of methotrexate and Dupixent, medications that manage her autoimmune disease.
“Finally, pagkaraan ng ilang taon nang pagpapagamot na walang nakikitang progreso, walang natatanaw na liwanag, tinablan na ito sa wakas ng itinaas na dosage ng methotrexate plus Dupixent,” Balares added.

Aquino expressed her gratitude to those who have been praying for her recovery and urged them to continue their prayers. “Prayer works. When we pray, God works,” she told Balares.
In a follow-up post on Thursday, May 16, Balares noted that Aquino’s food cravings are returning, a positive indicator of improving health. He recounted how Aquino, who has been staying in the U.S. for her treatment, recently mentioned missing his “laing and lechon kawali,” Filipino delicacies she enjoyed back home.
“Simulang umalis ng Pilipinas at pumirmi sa US, kanina lang nabanggit ito ni Krisy sa akin: ‘I miss your laing and lechon kawali very much,’” Balares shared, adding that his wife is finding a way to send these dishes to Aquino.

Earlier this year, Aquino mentioned that the following six months would be crucial as she started a “baby dose” of a new drug that could significantly impact her immune system. Despite the challenges, Aquino remains determined to fight her autoimmune condition.
