The afternoon series ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ on TV5 is set to make a significant move to primetime this June, much to the delight of its avid viewers.
The show’s gripping storyline and intense action sequences have garnered a strong following, and its new slot in TodoMax Primetime Singko is expected to attract even more fans.
A standout feature of the series is the transformation of its lead character, Norman dela Cruz, portrayed by Kiko Estrada. Estrada’s dedication to his role, including rigorous jiu-jitsu training and commitment to performing his own stunts, has earned him the admiration of viewers. Many have hailed him as the “lods na kaya kang ipaglaban”, solidifying his status as a rising action star.
With the move to primetime, Estrada is being recognized as the “new prime leading man” by his supporters. ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ will continue to air at 2:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, after ‘Eat Bulaga’ on TV5, before shifting to its primetime slot in June.
In our interview, Estrada shared that his journey to becoming an action star is inspired by his family’s legacy in showbiz, including his father Gary Estrada, uncle Joko Diaz, and late grandfather Paquito Diaz. He recounted a particularly challenging scene during filming:
“I rolled my ankle before that (pero sabi ko sa production) we’re not gonna do this shot with the double. Just make me the rest, I’m gonna take pain reliever, wait for two hours and I’m going to do it. By the grace of God, I prayed and we did it. It seemed like nothing happened. But the day after, I tell you, my ankle was swollen and all.”
Estrada added, “I would want to do everything but they controlled me to choose, especially after that. I also hyperextended my elbow in another action scene. But that’s a part of the job and I love my job and those are the sacrifices that you have to make to make a good show. It’s nothing to me right now. That’s why I got emotional during the advance screening. People don’t understand the journey that I have to go through to finish the episodes.”
The late writer-producer-director Carlo J. Caparas originally wrote ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ as a novel in Aliwan Komiks, which was later adapted into a film released on August 21, 1986, starring Rudy Fernandez.
Estrada’s passion and perseverance have not gone unnoticed, and his future in action roles looks promising. As ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ transitions to primetime, fans can look forward to even more thrilling episodes and high-octane action sequences from their new favorite action star.
