Content creator and internet sensation Jeraldine Blackman recently shared her experiences of facing racism in Australia.
Despite these challenges, Jeraldine has risen to fame through the Blackman Family vlog, which features her Australian husband, Josh Blackman, and their two children, Nimo and Jette.
Jeraldine spoke about her experiences during an interview with LionhearTV and other select media members on May 22 at the Beautéderm Headquarters in Angeles City. The occasion marked her introduction as the newest celebrity ambassador for Beautéderm Corporation, owned by CEO and President Rhea Anicoche-Tan, during a grand launch and media conference.
Jeraldine revealed that she and her family encountered racism and discrimination, primarily from fellow Asians, during their early years in Australia.
“Nimo is in grade 1 now, but before when he were starting school, nu’ng nasa pre-school siya, tapos, kaunti lang kasi ang Asians du’n sa school na napuntahan niya. And then Nimo would come home telling me that, ‘Oh mama, they won’t play with me because I have like little eyes.’ Kasi ‘yung eyes niya super-little, pero parang Korean kasi siya,” Jeraldine shared.
She continued, “Everyone was playing but they’re not playing with him (Nimo) kaya ang sakit ng loob. Minsan nga, nu’ng sinasabi ko sa kanya, umiyak ako sa toilet kasi na-hurt talaga ako.”

Jeraldine explained to her son that not everyone is nice but emphasized the importance of always being kind. Over time, Nimo learned to ignore the negative comments, and the incidents of racism have decreased as the other children matured.
Nimo’s black hair also drew attention from his predominantly blonde classmates, but Jeraldine is thankful that her children now understand and embrace their uniqueness.
Jeraldine expressed her gratitude for becoming a part of the Beautéderm family and revealed her long-term use of their products. She was pleasantly surprised when Miss Rhea Tan, whom she greatly admires, personally reached out to her.
“I really admire Ate Rhea as an entrepreneur. Look at her. She’s so successful yet so humble. I know her brand is a well-loved brand here in the Philippines, and I am so excited to make content endorsing the three new products. Ate Rhea contacted me and she said she’s been following me for a long time already. I was very surprised. I had no idea that a well-known businesswoman knows me. We kinda like speak the same language. We’re both Ilocanas,” Jeraldine said.
Miss Rhea affirmed that Jeraldine is the perfect ambassador for their new products, which include Cristaux Retinol Serum, Cristaux Zerum Hydra-Beauty, and Cristaux Vitamin C Serum.
“Jeraldine marks Beautéderm’s 15th anniversary. She’s the perfect influencer to do it. But it’s just the beginning. We will announce more surprises soon as part of this big milestone. We thank our consumers for their loyalty and support,” Miss Rhea stated.
Jeraldine also mentioned that she is open to hosting a TV show in the Philippines and is willing to temporarily leave her life in Australia if the opportunity arises.
