Veteran comedian and TV host Janno Gibbs recently opened up about the reason behind his habitual tardiness and its impact on his showbiz career.
Gibbs, often referred to as “The Late Janno Gibbs” due to his frequent lateness to work commitments, revealed during a guesting on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ that insomnia was the root cause of his past tardiness.
Acknowledging his reputation, Gibbs admitted to initially embracing the label for comedic purposes. However, as it began to adversely affect his professional opportunities, he recognized the need for change.
“Later on when it was medyo negative na ‘yung dating, it was affecting my job. ‘Naku! Ayoko nang kunin ‘yan, mahirap ‘yan, nale-late ‘yan.’ Eh, hindi na naman ako nale-late,” Gibbs shared.
Since rejoining Viva, Gibbs emphasized his commitment to punctuality, ensuring he arrives on time for shoots, even if they are early.
While Gibbs expressed a desire to change his Instagram handle from “JannoLateGibbs,” Instagram’s policies prevented him from doing so due to his substantial follower count.
“I want to change it actually. Hindi na po ako nale-late. Absent na lang. At least nag-level up,” Gibbs quipped.
Explaining his transformation, Gibbs attributed his past tardiness to insomnia, a condition for which he sought medical help but found no permanent solution.
“Mine is coming from insomnia. I’m still there, there’s no cure. I’ve been to a lot of doctors, ‘Fix your sleeping habits,’ ‘I’ll give you this medicine,’” Gibbs shared.
Despite his struggles, Gibbs remains determined to overcome his insomnia, expressing a willingness to undergo any necessary treatment or surgery.
