Carlo Aquino, Joshua Garcia, and Anne Curtis have been confirmed as the lead stars in the upcoming Philippine adaptation of the popular Korean drama ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.’
In a recent project announcement, Aquino and Garcia expressed their excitement about working alongside Curtis, who is returning to television after a decade-long hiatus.
“Very honored sobra. Of course, pagkatapos ng napakatagal na panahon babalik siya (Anne Curtis) ng series, tapos isa ako sa mga makakasama niya. Isang karangalan,” Garcia shared enthusiastically.
Aquino, reflecting on their past collaboration, added, “Excited kasi the last time we worked together parang ‘Baler’ pa ‘yun and sobrang tagal na nu’n, so and I’m sure kita niyo naman very willing and capable naman ang isang Anne Curtis sa role, so I am excited.”
Curtis, known for her versatility, expressed a personal connection to her role as Emilia Hernandez in the series, citing the character’s relatability and depth of growth.
“I love her journey of growth and I talked about it with Ms. Mae (Cruz-Alviar) earlier you see it from the very beginning of the episode until the last. You see it in how she dresses and how she changes her hair, how she speaks, how she controls her emotions how she goes thru the process, pati ‘yung mga outburst niya sabi ko ‘I can see myself’, so I think it was a light bomb moment and she can be relatable to so many. And maybe I recognize and I acknowledge that with myself also,” Curtis elaborated.
Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, the Philippine adaptation of ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ promises to showcase the scenic landscapes of Negros province and Iloilo City, setting the stage for a visually captivating narrative.
“Of course, this is a highly anticipated project and I am very grateful that I was given this opportunity to do this very beautiful K-drama adaptation,” Cruz-Alviar expressed.
Produced under Star Creatives, ‘It’s Okay to Not Be Okay’ is expected to resonate deeply with local audiences while offering a fresh interpretation of the beloved original series. The production aims to captivate viewers with its compelling storyline and engaging portrayal of complex characters.
