‘Makiling’ star Derrick Monasterio expressed his belief on April 25 that every artist has the potential for greatness; it just requires the right environment.
“Ako naniniwala ako na walang artistang hindi magaling, walang artistang bobo,” the actor stated during a virtual media conference for the finale week of “Makiling.”
He elaborated, “Nasa ano ‘yan, it just takes one team na susuportahan ka, na aalagaan ka, na makikipag-collab sa iyo. Doon lalabas ang potensyal mo as an actor, as a person.”
Having entered the industry in 2010 with the series ‘Real Love Presents: Tween Hearts,’ Monasterio has spent fourteen years continuously honing his craft and evolving as an actor.
“Gaya nga ng sinabi ni Direk, kailangan mong pigain para lumabas ang katas. Tumatak sa akin ‘yon kasi ang ganda ng sinabi niya na iyon,” Monasterio shared.
While primarily recognized for his acting, Monasterio’s singing talent has also gained recognition. He attributes his ability to explore his full potential to the encouragement and guidance of the right individuals.
His latest project, ‘Makiling,’ serves as evidence of his growth as an actor, featuring several iconic scenes that have gone viral on the internet.
Each episode of the afternoon revenge-drama series has left a lasting impression on viewers, reflected in its remarkable 7.7 rating from AGB Nielsen NUTAM TV Ratings. As Amira (Elle Villanueva) finally seeks revenge on her abusers, viewers are left wondering if she and Alex (Monasterio) will have a happy ending.
With ‘Makiling’ in its final week, viewers can expect even more intense scenes. Catch the show exclusively on GMA Afternoon Prime.
