Award-winning veteran actress Charo Santos-Concio has found herself unintentionally entangled in the controversy surrounding the FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences) Awards.
Charo, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award from FAMAS in 2019, was invited as an award presenter at the 72nd FAMAS Awards held on May 26. However, she became part of the controversy involving the alleged disrespect towards veteran actress Eva Darren, who was reportedly excluded from the list of award presenters.
The FAMAS production staff claimed they could not locate Eva Darren at the venue, which led to newcomer singer Sheena Palad being substituted as an award presenter alongside Tirso Cruz III.
The controversy surrounding Charo Santos-Concio emerged after she posted photos from the FAMAS Awards Night on her Instagram account on May 28. The pictures featured fellow senior stars, including Pilar Pilapil, Marissa Delgado, Divina Valencia, Efren Reyes Jr., Nova Villa, Dante Rivero, and notably, Eva Darren.
“An exchange of kamustahans and hugs with my dear friends and co-actors in FAMAS,” Charo captioned her post.
Netizens quickly noticed that Charo had managed to find Eva Darren, questioning why the FAMAS staff failed to do so.
