During the press conference for the finale of the hit prime time series ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ on April 11, the directors shared a mix of gratitude, nostalgia, and bittersweet emotions as they reflected on the journey of the show.
Director Henry King Quitain expressed his gratitude for overcoming the challenges they faced throughout the series. He was pleased with how the show had come together, saying, “Sobrang thankful lang kasi ang hirap ng process na pinagdaanan namin, especially ng creatives. Pero now, parang nabubuo na siya completely at masayang-masaya kami.”
Ian Loreños echoed Quitain’s sentiments, emphasizing that this experience would be cherished as a special chapter in their lives. “Kagaya ng sinasabi nila, parang kailan lang. I’m sure this will be a very special project sa lahat, sa amin dito. It will be a chapter in our lives na we will keep on our treasure chest.”
He also acknowledged the indispensable role of the production team, stating, “We’re captain of the ships pero sila ‘yung…hindi mabubuo ang Can’t Buy Me Love without them. So ito lang ang mga simpleng way na kaya namin silang pasalamatan, so guys, salamat, thank you.”
For director Raymund Ocampo, joining the series midway was unexpected but rewarding. “Ako naman, sobrang grateful kasi kahit pa sa kalagitnaan na ng show ako napasok dito sa Can’t Buy Me Love, nagulat ako na mag-ending ng ganito, kasama nila,” Ocampo shared.
Director Mae Cruz-Alviar expressed a sense of surrealism while watching the trailer for the remaining episodes. Despite the exhaustion from long hours and hard work, she acknowledged the fulfillment in delivering a quality production. “What we have done in the past how many months, it is the fruit of labor, and love, and passion of everybody involved. It’s bittersweet because it was tiring. All the puyat, all the hard work. But I’m also sad and I’m sure everyone feels the same way that you know, this is it, we’re ending,” she said.
As the final episode airs on May 10, viewers can expect intensifying scenes as the mystery behind Divine Almazan’s death is unveiled. Tune in to ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida or watch in advance on Netflix.
