Season 1 winner Angel Guardian is taking a new approach in the second season of Running Man Philippines, prioritizing enjoyment over securing a back-to-back win.
During a May 4 press conference at GMA Network Studio, Guardian told the media that she gave it her all last season.
“Actually, this season po, mas focused ako sa mag-enjoy ako. Kasi parang last season nasa isip ko, I am playing to win. Pero this season, parang I play more to enjoy. ‘Yun talaga ang sinet ko sa utak ko na siguro okay na ‘yung last season na buhos lahat, buong lakas, lahat-lahat,” she said.
Does this mean she will no longer be competitive?
The Season 1 ultimate runner clarified that she still plans on winning. However, her goal this season is to entertain the viewers.
“Siguro this season, competitive pa rin naman ako. Pero iba na ‘yung mindset ko. Mas focused ako na ‘yun nga, mag-enjoy, maka-bonding ang mga runners, and makita kaming lahat na nage-enjoy at nananalo,” Guardian explained.
She added, “Kasi every mission, we have to give our all, para rin sa mga audience, para rin ma-enjoy nila, para rin mag-appear sa screen na alam mo ‘yun, competitive kami pero we enjoy. And we want to show that to people. I want to show that to people. Ayokong alisin sa sarili ko ‘yung pagiging competitive ko just because nanalo na ako. And it doesn’t mean na hindi ako mage-enjoy.”
Buboy Villar: Her Biggest Threat
In Season 1, Guardian and co-runner Buboy Villar rarely had the chance to compete against each other. But this second season, they were pitted against each other in almost all challenges, making her consider the comedian her biggest threat.
“Ngayon lang kami nagkaharap eh. Ngayon lang kami nagkakasalubong this season,” she said. “Pero na-enjoy ko ‘yun. Kasi hindi kami nagkakasalubong dati, and this season, ilang beses kaming nagtapat. So feeling ko si Buboy.”
Meanwhile, Season 2 of the show was filmed during South Korea’s winter, making it hard for her and her fellow runners to adjust to the cold weather. Even with additional layers of clothing, they were still bothered by the cold.
Instead of worrying about the weather, the Kapuso artist and her fellow runners focused on enjoying the 43 days they spent in the country.
If Running Man Philippines makes it to a third season, with the setting in the Philippines, Guardian hopes they could do one of the challenges in Palawan.
Running Man Philippines Season 2 airs every weekend on GMA Network.
