10CM’s Kwon Jung Yeul revealed on May 6 that his single ‘What the Spring’ was inspired by the frustrations of their single staff members.
During an interview with Yeul at Vanilla Cafe in Quezon City, he recalled creating the song within ten minutes during South Korea’s White Day. This observance, which follows Valentine’s Day, is dedicated to all single men and women.
He shared that their staff members were lamenting about not having a special someone, and Yeul turned their frustrations into a song.
“Actually it only takes 10 minutes lang. And it was during White Day sa Korea.
‘What the Spring’ was released on April 1, 2016, as an anti-romance song. It became an instant hit in South Korea and has over 12 million plays on Spotify.
Meanwhile, Yeul is in the Philippines as a guest of Filipino singer TJ Monterde for his concert. The South Korean singer will also have his ‘Closer to You’ Asian tour in the Philippines this coming August 31, which will be held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay.
Ticket sales will begin on May 30, with prices ranging from P1,600 to P5,300.
