South Korean singer-songwriter 10CM, renowned for his heartfelt love songs, recently shared the unique inspiration behind his hit track ‘What the Spring.’
Unlike his usual romantic tunes, ‘What the Spring’ stands out for its distinctive theme and tone.
In our interview, 10CM proudly revealed that he composed ‘What the Spring’ in just 10 minutes on White Day, a holiday in Korea akin to Valentine’s Day in many other countries. The song is dedicated to singles and encapsulates the frustrations and irritations they often feel on such a romantic occasion. “I poured all our bad vibes into the lyrics,” 10CM explained, highlighting the song’s atypical but relatable sentiment.
10CM, whose real name is Kwon Jung-yeol, is celebrated for his contributions to the soundtracks of numerous beloved K-dramas, including ‘Goblin,’ ‘Hotel Del Luna,’ ‘Crash Landing on You,’ ‘Start-Up,’ and ‘Our Beloved Summer.’ His latest release, ‘Tell Me It’s Not A Dream,’ featured in the recently concluded series ‘Queen of Tears,’ has also garnered significant attention.
Fans in Manila will have the opportunity to see 10CM perform live at The New Frontier Theater on August 31, as part of his “10cm Closer to You” Asia tour. Tickets for the event will go on sale starting May 15.
