At the press conference for his comeback film ‘Huwag Mo ‘Kong Iwan’ at the Cafe Ilang-Ilang at the Manila Hotel Atrium on April 4, Tom Rodriguez shared his reflections on love: it needs mutual effort.
Rodriguez believes that for a relationship to thrive, both partners must actively participate in nurturing it.
“It is definitely a two-way street ang love. Hindi lang dapat ikaw o ‘yung isa ang lumalaban,” the actor said.
Reflecting on his personal growth, he highlighted the importance of loving without fear. He cautioned against focusing on negative emotions, as they can have detrimental effects on relationships.
“But the biggest lesson I think that I’ve really learned from it is you really have to invite and live in a vibration of love. Kasi kung puro takot, kaba, fear, and anxiety ang itatanim mo, insecurities din ang babalik sa iyo. Kung ‘yun ang anihin mo eh doon ka mas mapapasama minsan, doon pa magkakaroon ng problema. Kaya you should really focus on that love,” explained Rodriguez.
The actor had a share of his downfalls when it comes to relationships, especially with how he and Carla Abellana ended up. The actor divorced his now estranged wife and took a two-year break from showbiz.
Back from his hiatus, he is prepared to take up acting again. He began with an appearance in a ‘Magpakailanman’ episode.
Currently, he is one of the leads in the upcoming film ‘Huwag Mo ‘Kong Iwan.’ The film is directed by Joel Lamangan, and stars Rodriguez, Rhian Ramos, and JC de Vera.
