During ‘THE SIGN ‘90s Supershow’ press conference on April 9, The Team ’90s Tyrone Gabuay drew intriguing parallels on how dance tracks gain traction, similar to how Shaira Moro’s ‘Selos’ became a sensation.
Moro’s infectious hit, known for its energetic melody, took the internet by storm, drawing comparisons to Lenka’s 2008 hit “Trouble is a Friend.” However, Gabuay’s focus wasn’t on the controversy surrounding its origins but rather on its resonance with the masses, similar to the adoration garnered by iconic ’90s dance tracks.
“For me, siyempre, mga dancers kami, sa choreographers talaga.
Gabuay also noted the element of collaboration. He highlighted the accessibility and memorability of both ’90s dance routines and Moro’s song, noting their simplicity and universal appeal.
May mga steps na talagang very easy to follow. Touch of 90s, plus ‘yung mga bago ngayon,” said Gabuay.
‘90s dance concert to show they are not “laos.”
As anticipation builds for the upcoming ‘THE SIGN ‘90s Supershow: A Benefit Concert,’ on April 19 at the Aliw Theater, Gabuay reassured fans that the spirit of ’90s dance culture is far from obsolete. The concert, featuring legendary groups like Team 90s, Streetboys, Mastermind, Manoeuvres, UMD, and more, aims to showcase their enduring relevance and talent.
Reflecting on the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gabuay expressed determination to prove the resilience of the ’90s dance icons.
“Talagang noong pandemic, noong Covid, talagang walang mga shows, walang mga event. So, ngayon na lang ulit. So talagang ipapakita ng ating mga 90s OGs at other dance group na talagang parang hindi pa kami laos. Lalaban pa kami,” he stressed.
Gabuay continued, “May ipapakita pa talaga.
