Actress Sunshine Cruz has candidly revealed her regrets about her past decisions to take on daring roles, acknowledging that the specter of her earlier career choices still lingers over her.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, Sunshine shared how the scrutiny surrounding her showbiz journey also impacted her children, Angelina, Samantha, and Angel.
“I get affected kasi ‘yung mga bata dapat hindi nadadamay pero ngayon naisip ko ang importante kung talaga ‘yung mga nakakakilala sa’kin at naiintindihan ako at mahal ako,” she confided.
Sunshine also disclosed that she had eventually discussed her past roles with her children, choosing to have the conversation when they were mature enough to comprehend her experiences. “Nung time na ready na sila at kahit papano ay maiintindihan na nila ako, dun ko sinabi sa kanila. Hangga’t maaari kasi gusto ko sa’kin manggagaling hindi sa ibang tao,” she explained.
Moreover, Sunshine opened up about how her showbiz history contributed to the breakdown of her relationship with actor Cesar Montano.
“There was a time na ni-regret ko ‘yun especially naging malaking parte ‘yun ng aming separation ng aking ex-husband. But at the end of the day, mas naging stronger ako; mas natuto ako,” she reflected.
Despite the challenges she faced, Sunshine emphasized her resilience in showbiz without resorting to daring roles. “Ang ginawa ko lang, mas pinatunayan ko sa mga tao na hindi lang ako sexy star. I can also be a singer, I can be an actress, and most especially, I am a good mom. I know that for a fact. Lahat naman tayo nagkakamali, nagkakaroon ng maling desisyon noong mga bata pa tayo. Pero ang importante ay kung ano tayo ngayon,” she concluded.
Sunshine Cruz embarked on her showbiz journey at the tender age of 15, marking the beginning of a prolific career spanning the 1990s. While her early roles showcased her versatility, it was her foray into daring roles in films that garnered attention.
However, in recent years, Sunshine has transitioned to portraying maternal figures in teleseryes, showcasing her depth as an actress. Her most recent appearance was in the groundbreaking ABS-CBN-GMA Network collaboration project, ‘Unbreak My Heart.’ Beyond acting, Sunshine is also known for her musical talents. Despite her busy schedule, she has always prioritized her family life and managed to pursue higher education, obtaining a college degree later in life. Continuing her commitment to learning, Sunshine aims to pursue a master’s degree in psychology, highlighting her dedication to personal and academic growth.
