Becoming one of the prominent faces for GMA Public Affairs, ‘Black Rider’ star Ruru Madrid expressed on March 17 his desire to host a documentary of his own.
GMA Public Affairs produced his latest series, ‘Black Rider,’ making it his sixth project with them. He is also one of the faces of the production company’s campaign, “Tatak Public Affairs, Tatak World Class.”
“Of course, it’s an honor to be part of the new Public Affairs campaign. Working with Public Affairs, I can do—they give me a chance to have a voice in every project I do,” Madrid expressed. “They give me a chance to have a voice, even in how the script is written. The trust they give me is overwhelming. That’s why I’m very happy to be part of this group.”
The actor has done “Naku, Boss Ko! “Inday Will Always Love You,” “TODA One I Love,” “Lolong,” and “Write One” are all under GMA Public Affairs. But if given the chance, Madrid said he would love to do a documentary in which he plays himself.
“Feeling ko—well ako—personally, sobrang gusto kong magkaroon ng mga documentaries or any show kung saan na hindi ako magpe-pretend to be someone else, like hindi ako artista. Kumbaga may mga pupuntahan tayong mga lugar, like aaralin ‘yung mga ganoong bagay.”
Having done “Lolong,” he became interested in tackling environmental issues and discovering extraordinary stories from ordinary people in remote areas.
“Since ginawa ko ‘yung Lolong, siyempre regarding sa pangagalaga sa ating kalikasan, so p’wede rin ‘yon, animals. At the same time…gusto ko rin kasing malaman ang k’wento ng mga ordinaryong Pilipino na lumalaban sa araw-araw, especially ‘yung mga hindi natin napupuntahan, ‘yung mga sobrang liblib na lugar. Gusto kong mahanap or makapakinig ng mga k’wento nila kung saan mabibigyan din ako ng inspirasyon,” he noted.
There have been offers for him to host some programs. However, Madrid is still waiting for the perfect time to delve into hosting.
“May mga nagsasabi sa akin na gusto daw nilang i-pitch ‘yung mga ganoong klaseng docus at ako ang gusto nilang gawing host. Ako, naghihintay lang po ng right timing for that. But of course, hindi ako magdadalawang-isip dahil dream ko rin naman iyon.”
In the meantime, watch him as Elias in Black Rider, Monday to Friday, only on GMA Network’s Telebabad.
