Actress Rosanna Roces recently expressed remorse over the breakdown of her friendship with fellow actress Aiai delas Alas, hoping to mend their 20-year-long rift.
In an interview with Aiko Melendez, Roces candidly admitted that the bond she shared with the ‘Ang Tanging Ina’ star was genuine, expressing disappointment over its dissolution.
“Kasi ‘yung pinagsamahan namin noon, totoo. Sobrang saya, sobrang nakakatawa,” Roces shared.
Reflecting on the cause of their falling out, Roces recounted a misunderstanding sparked by a third party during a show in Dagupan.
“Ang totoong pinag-awayan namin, may show kami sa Dagupan. Kalakasan naming mag-show noon. Before ‘yung show namin, nag-show siya with Ara Mina. So, nag-flop yun nang husto,” Roces explained.
“So, ang ginawa ng producer ko, na hindi ko naman alam, tinanggal siya [Ai-Ai] sa poster. So, nung nakita niya siguro, sumama ‘yung loob niya,” Roces added.
Despite the rift that ensued after the concert, Roces expressed gratitude that their disagreement didn’t escalate to the point of mutual animosity.
“‘Yun na. Nasira na ‘yung samahan namin na sobrang naging personal na. Pero hindi [naman] kami nagsiraan nang grabe, ‘yung ganon,” Roces emphasized.
Even after two decades, Roces remains hopeful for reconciliation, asserting that she bears no grudges.
“Hoping ako na maayos namin lahat. Willing naman akong puntahan siya kahit saan. Pero siyempre, pagka ready na siya. Pero wala na akong sama ng loob or anything like that,” Roces affirmed.
Believing in the adage that “time heals all wounds,” Roces expressed her wish for the opportunity to revive their friendship.
“Wala namang hindi naaayos pag tumagal na, di ba? Time heals all wounds. So, pupunta rin tayo diyan. Ang wish ko nga sana makapag-show kaming dalawa ulit. ‘Yung ginagawa namin dati,” she remarked.
In a 2007 interview with PEP, Delas Alas remained firm in her stance, stating that she would refrain from commenting on her feud with Roces or the possibility of reconciliation. “Uniform pa rin ang sagot ko…. ‘Pag tungkol kay Osang, parati akong no comment for life,” Delas Alas stated at the time.
