The popular South Korean series ‘Queen of Tears’ has made history on the TvN Network by surpassing all previous records set by K-dramas.
Starring Korean actors Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won, ‘Queen of Tears’ has cemented its place as the “highest-rated cable TV drama” on network, TvN.
This remarkable feat comes as ‘Queen of Tears’ eclipsed the ratings of the immensely popular 2020 K-drama ‘Crash Landing on You,’ featuring Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin.
According to reports, the final two episodes of ‘Queen of Tears,’ which aired last Saturday and Sunday, have rewritten the annals of Korean television.
As per data from the renowned polling firm Nielsen Korea, the 16th episode of ‘Queen of Tears,’ streamed on Netflix on the preceding night, achieved an unprecedented nationwide rating of 24.85 percent, marking a historic high.
It is reported that an audience of 6.39 million tuned in to watch the episode.
This impressive figure surpassed the previous record set by ‘Crash Landing on You,’ which garnered a nationwide rating of 21.683 percent for its 16th and final episode on February 16, 2020.
Moreover, ‘Queen of Tears’ also eclipsed the ratings of ‘Sky Castle,’ a drama aired on the JTBC channel, achieving a rating of 24.85 percent, outdoing the 23.779 rating of ‘Sky Castle.’
With this remarkable achievement, ‘Queen of Tears’ now claims the title of the third-highest-rated drama on cable TV overall in South Korea, solidifying its status as a cultural phenomenon.
