Amidst speculations regarding the fate of the noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga,’ showbiz personality Ogie Diaz has stepped forward to set the record straight, denying any involvement in spreading rumors of its potential cancellation.
The controversy arose following Diaz’s recent YouTube vlog, streamed on April 16, where his co-host Loi Villarama read claims from a Facebook user identified as Kapatid Insider, alleging financial struggles for the beloved program.
Responding swiftly, ‘Eat Bulaga’ hosts Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon vehemently refuted these claims, denouncing them as falsehoods perpetuated by social media “liars.”
In an effort to address the growing backlash, Diaz took to his Facebook page on April 19 to provide clarity regarding his report. He urged viewers to refrain from jumping to conclusions based solely on partial information, emphasizing the importance of watching the full context of his coverage.
Additionally, Diaz shared the link to his YouTube vlog, encouraging viewers to access the comprehensive discussion on the matter.
“Konting oras, data o wifi lang ang kailangan para malaman niyo kung ano talaga ang ibinalita namin.”
In subsequent episodes of his vlog, particularly on April 20, Diaz reiterated his stance, emphasizing that he played no role in initiating the rumors surrounding ‘Eat Bulaga.’ He underscored the necessity of verifying information before forming opinions and urged viewers to engage with media reports in a more discerning manner.
“‘Yung iba na hindi nanonood at dumedepende lamang sa binabasa nilang thumbnail or title, jina-judge na kami. Ang bilin ko, panoorin nang buo kung paano namin binalita at nilatag ‘yung isyu. Unang una sa lahat, meron kaming pinagkuhaan. Binasa namin at noong sinabi na nalulugi ang ‘Eat Bulaga,’ hindi rin naman kami naniwala,” said Diaz.
While acknowledging the challenges of navigating public opinion with his vlogs, Diaz emphasized the importance of responsible reporting and urged the public to exercise caution in consuming and interpreting media content.
