Newly-signed Star Magic talent Miggy Jimenez admitted on March 13 he experienced body dysmorphia just to break from child roles and shift to more mature ones.
“Conscious effort? Naku, marami pong self-talk ‘yun na ako mismo nagkakaroon na ng body dysmorphia rin ako,” he admitted during Star Magic’s ‘Spotlight’ press conference at Limbaga 77, Quezon City.
Jimenez, now 24, has been in the industry since he was eight years old. To veer from his previous roles, he consciously made an effort to change his body, but had to suffer the mental condition.
But now, the actor realized he can enjoy the little things in life, including eating.
“Kapag wala akong project, I try to enjoy food eh. ‘Yun ang isa sa mga guilty pleasures ko, which is kumain, which is alam natin na masarap kumain,” he shared.
Fortunately for him, he does not have to achieve a certain body weight in some of his projects.
“Pero siyempre, once I’m required na to prepare– sometimes naman it’s up to me, kung saan ako comfortable with my own skin.”
Although not extremely confident with his body, Jimenez is happy to have a balanced lifestyle by having a toned body.
“Malaking conscious siya, nakaka-conscious siya kasi ako like ako mismo hindi confident, though hindi ako masiyadong confident to flaunt like with my body. Ako mismo, I wanna like ano lang, toned body; hindi ako fan ng abs, like hindi ko siya pinangarap talaga. Toned body lang, ‘yun ang siguro na goal ko lang.”
Jimenez was known for his roles in “Gameboys: The Movie” and as Poch Robles in “Senior High,” both BL characters.
