Martin Del Rosario expressed his satisfaction on March 16 at the growing acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Philippines.
The actor, known for his support of LGBTQIA+ rights, emphasized in an article by GMA Network that everyone should “have the right to love another person, regardless of their sexual orientation.”
During a press conference at Paramount Coffee in Davao del Sur, Del Rosario reiterated his support after observing a positive shift in Filipinos’ attitudes towards LGBTQIA+ individuals.
“I think… feeling ko, mas nabibigyan na ng boses—hindi pa totally, ha— pero I guess parang mas dumadami ang open-minded ngayon dito sa bansa natin,” he remarked.
The struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights in the Philippines traces back to the 1990s, with activists advocating for legal protections and societal acceptance.
Despite progress, discrimination and marginalization persist, highlighting the ongoing need for advocacy and education on LGBTQIA+ issues.
“Sana magpatuloy at patuloy pa rin ang laban natin para maging pantay-pantay ang tingin sa ating lahat,” he urged.
