Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings expressed heartfelt gratitude on April 11 for the overwhelming support they received as a newly-paired duo in the popular series “Can’t Buy Me Love” (CBML).
Racal plays the kikay Irene Chiu while Jennings embodies the goofy Snoop Manansala, two characters who exemplify the concept of ‘opposites attract.’ Their on-screen chemistry has captivated audiences, with viewers eagerly anticipating their appearances in each episode of CBML.
During the press conference for the show’s finale, both actors seized the opportunity to convey their appreciation for the viewers’ unwavering support.
“I’m very happy sa lahat ng surprises na hatid ng show na ito para sa akin and para sa aming lahat,” said Racal. “Everything was so unexpected though we were told that it was kind of bland. But we are happy with ourselves, and ine-enjoy namin lahat.”
The actress was also happy for finally finding a co-star who resonated well with her, acknowledging the creative team behind CBML for their exceptional concept.
“Thankful talaga kami sa Star Creatives, sa show, sa mga nag-isip, sa nag-conceptualize, sa mga nakaisip na i-pair kami. Thankful ako dahil doon nakilala ko ‘to si Anthony, and sobrang sarap katrabaho, sobrang sarap ka-eksena,” Racal remarked.
She continued, “Finally, nakahanap din ako ng alam mo ‘yun, ka-eksena na well-connected. Like alam namin ‘yung saan namin gustong dalhin ang eksena. We were both just having fun kapag nagshu-shoot. Thankful ako kay Anthony, sa Star Creatives, sa Netflix, sa ‘Can’t Buy Me Love.’”
Meanwhile, Jennings, although speechless at the success of their on-screen pairing, credited Racal for her professionalism and dedication to their craft. He expressed gratitude for their ability to maintain a clear boundary between their personal and professional lives, ensuring an effective portrayal of their characters on screen.
“Siyempre, nagpapasalamat din ako of course kay Maris. Kasi si Maris, professional siya sa trabaho niya eh. Ganoon din naman ako, of course. Andoon naman ang pag-aalala namin sa isa’t-isa eh, ‘yung personal lives namin,” thanked Jennings.

Both Racal and Jennings are content in their real-life relationships, with Racal happily involved with Rivermaya frontman Rico Blanco and Jennings committed to his girlfriend outside of show business.
When asked about the reaction of her partner regarding the success of SnoRene (the combination of their characters’ names), the actress revealed her boyfriend gave her the “nod of approval.”
“Si Rico naman is so supportive. Super fan siya ng show, especially sa Chiu family and ‘yung mystery. Favorite niya si Albie [Casiño], the best daw, the best daw sa show,” Racal stated.
She added, “Natutuwa din siya sa amin ni Anthony.”
