OPM singer Imelda Papin recently shared her real-life experiences with the Marcos family during their exile in Hawaii. At the screening of her film on April 7, Papin confirmed that she received support from the Marcoses, including President Bongbong Marcos Jr., himself.
Siyempre po, ang ating President, Bongbong Marcos, is supporting this movie,” expressed the singer.
Papin even revealed that the President expressed interest in attending the screening of ‘Imelda Papin: The Untold Story.’ However, due to safety concerns associated with his status as the country’s leader, she advised him to watch the film at Malacañang instead.
“Ang sinabi niya, gusto niyang manood during our premiere night. But of course, sabi ko, for safety reason, diyan na lang panoorin sa Malacañang,” Papin explained.
Before producing the film, they sought permission from the entire Marcos clan, including former First Lady Imelda Marcos and daughter Senator Imee.
Directed by filmmaker Gabby Ramos, ‘Imelda Papin: The Untold Story’ authentically portrays Papin’s experiences with the Marcoses. Papin emphasized that they depicted only personal experiences without embellishment.
To ensure accuracy in all scenes, Papin revealed that it took nearly a year to complete the film.
“It took us almost a year para matapos ito.
Starring Claudine Barretto, ER Ejercito, Alice Dixson, and Angel Aquino, ‘Imelda Papin: The Untold Story’ is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
