In its continuing commitment to promote environmental awareness and conservation, GMA Network, through its environmental social responsibility initiative Kapuso ng Kalikasan, took part in Earth Hour 2024.
The Network switched off non-essential lights in certain areas of its Quezon City headquarters on March 23, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., known as #TheBiggestHourForEarth. Its regional stations throughout the country also observed Earth Hour in the same manner.
Earth Hour, which began in 2007, is a global movement that encourages people to turn off their lights for an hour in symbolic support for the planet while also bringing further attention to environmental issues affecting it.
GMA Network, a longtime environmental advocate, is the first media and entertainment company in the Philippines to sign with the U.N. Global Impact, a voluntary initiative based on commitments to implement universal sustainability principles and to take steps to support UN goals.
